Florida’s “Honorary Sheriff” brings 15 years leading statewide association of 67 county sheriffs

SANTA MONICA, CA – JailGeek today announced that Steve Casey, the distinguished former Executive Director of the Florida Sheriffs Association, has joined its advisory team. Honored as Florida’s “Honorary Sheriff” after 15 years leading the statewide association, Casey brings unparalleled insight into the operational and financial challenges facing local detention facilities.

Casey’s remarkable career spans every level of law enforcement—from patrol deputy to Special Agent Supervisor with the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco to executive roles with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and Florida Lottery Security Division. His exceptional credentials include graduation from the FBI National Academy (163rd session), Harvard University’s Senior Executive Program for State and Local Government, and the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, as well as a master’s degree in management from Troy University.

This unique combination of frontline experience and executive education makes Casey perfectly positioned to advise JailGeek on creating solutions that meet sheriffs’ real-world needs. As a Senior Advisor to the National Sheriffs Association, he maintains vital connections with law enforcement leaders across all 45 state sheriff associations.

Casey’s guidance will be instrumental in refining JailGeek’s software for diverse facility types and advocating for fairer federal contracting practices that protect local taxpayer dollars while ensuring proper compensation for housing federal detainees.

“After 15 years representing Florida’s sheriffs, I’ve seen firsthand how complex federal detention agreements can shortchange local taxpayers,” said Steve Casey. “JailGeek’s approach to simplifying and optimizing these relationships is exactly what our profession needs. I’m proud to help ensure their solutions address the real challenges sheriffs face every day.”
